Frequently asked questions

How is IV drip rate calculated?

Drops per minute = (volume in mL × drop factor) ÷ time in minutes. The tool supports common drop factors of 10, 15, 20 and 60 gtt/mL.

What is a drop factor?

The drops per mL a giving set delivers, printed on the IV set packaging. Macrodrip sets are 10–20 gtt/mL; a microdrip set is 60 gtt/mL.
